What Is Fascia Release?
Maybe it isn't about releasing anything.
If you've been searching for fascia release, you've probably come across massage, foam rolling, myofascial release and Human Garage®.
They all use the same words.
They don't all mean the same thing.
So let's start with fascia.
What is fascia?
Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that runs throughout your entire body.
It surrounds muscles, organs, bones, nerves and blood vessels, connecting everything together.
Rather than seeing the body as lots of separate parts, fascia reminds us that everything is connected.
That's one of the reasons there's been so much interest in fascia over recent years.
It invites us to look at the body differently.
So what is fascia release?
That depends who you ask.
For some people, fascia release means hands-on treatment.
For others, it means using movement to explore more ease and freedom in the body.
Human Garage® takes another approach.
Rather than trying to release something, the invitation is to move differently and notice what happens.
Your body does the rest.
Is it the same as stretching?
Not really.
Traditional stretching is usually linear.
It asks one muscle to lengthen in one direction.
Human Garage® Fascial Manoeuvres® invite spiralling, rotation and whole-body movement instead.
It's not about stretching further.
It's about giving your body different movement options and becoming curious about how it responds.
Can you release fascia yourself?
This is one of the reasons I love Human Garage®.
You don't need complicated equipment.
You don't need someone working on your body all the time.
Fascial Manoeuvres® are designed to become part of everyday life, giving you a simple way to explore movement for yourself.
Not because you're trying to fix anything.
Because you're learning to listen.
Does fascia release work?
That's a question only your own body can answer.
People describe all sorts of different experiences.
Some notice more ease in their movement.
Some become more aware of how they're holding themselves.
Some simply enjoy having a few quiet minutes each day to reconnect with their body.
Rather than asking you to believe anyone else's experience, I'd encourage you to explore your own.

Exploring How Human Garage® Works
There isn't a right place to begin.
Just begin.
-
It shouldn't be something you force.
Whether you're exploring Fascial Manoeuvres® or another approach, the invitation is to work with your body rather than against it.
-
No.
Massage is something that's done to you.
Human Garage® Fascial Manoeuvres® are something you actively explore yourself through movement.
They're different approaches with different intentions.
-
No.
Just your body, a little space and a willingness to be curious.
