Movement

What happens when you stop trying to move correctly?

So much of movement is about getting somewhere.

More flexible.

Stronger.

Faster.

Further.

A better shape.

A better body.

I'm interested in something else.

What happens when movement becomes somewhere to notice, rather than something to achieve?

Move.

Stop.

Change direction.

Change position.

Do less.

Try something unfamiliar.

Notice what happens.

There is nothing to perform here.

No particular shape you need to make.

No pace you need to keep.

And no assumption that further, deeper or more flexible is better.

Movement gives us information.

Sometimes something changes.

Sometimes something becomes available that wasn't before.

Sometimes the interesting thing is simply noticing how much effort we'd been using without realising it.

Explore movement

Movement appears through different parts of The Studio — Quiet Floor, Human Garage® and Fascial Manoeuvres®, workshops and whatever else I'm currently exploring.
